Against Me! Leave Sire Records

While the release of White Crosses earlier this year should have had had Floridian punks Against Me! crisscrossing continents for a good chunk of time, the troupe had to bail on an Australian tour this fall. No official word was given at the time, but a recent blog post from main man Tom Gabel explains that the group had to do some serious soul-searching before they hit the road again, as the outfit have just left their major label home of Sire.

"After almost a five year relationship we are leaving Sire/Warner," Gabel wrote. "We have nothing but gratitude towards all the people we worked with at the label and feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to make the records we made while with the label."

As of press time, it is unknown if the group have a new record deal elsewhere. Against Me! previously released records on No Idea and Fat Wreck Chords.

When the act do get back to gigging things will look a little different onstage. Jay Weinberg, the former Madball skinsman and son of Max Weinberg, will be playing with the group. There's no word if recently acquired drummer George Rebelo (ex-Hot Water Music) has permanently left Against Me!, but the Gabel says "Weinberg will be sitting behind the drum kit for us, which we're very excited about."

Against Me! has announced a couple of concerts this December, as well as a small U.S. tour supporting the Dropkick Murphys. You can check those tour dates here.
