Against Me!

There’s really only one thing about this record that’s bad. It’s too short. But even though there’s only three songs on it, Florida’s next big thing, Against Me!, pack more emotional intensity into these songs than a whole festival of what passes for "emo” these days. The title track is a horn-infused number that’s jumpy but decidedly not disco. Slowing down the pace but not the punch on "Tonight We’re Gonna Give It 35%,” they send shivers up your back with their ragged harmonies. They end it off with an acoustic tune called "Beginning In An Ending” that’ll leave you wanting to hit play and listen to the whole thing again. If they keep this up, Against Me! will take over the world.
