Adrianne Lenker has shared a video for her new single "Ruined," which finds the Big Thief frontperson behind the keys for the first time. "Ruined" is unsurprisingly very beautiful, and it's the first taste of Lenker's upcoming sixth solo album, which is set to arrive in 2024.

"Can't get enough of you / You come around I'm ruined," Lenker sings over gentle piano and some diaphanous atmosphere. "This song has been a quiet beacon for me. It may contain the essence of the gift of romantic love but it's mostly about something much bigger," Lenker said in a statement.

The new song comes attached to a music video by Lenker's brother Noah, and it features Lenker wandering through autumn foliage and swimming in a river, accompanied by some dogs and Lenker's partner.

Lenker's last solo albums — the one-two punch of songs and instrumentals — came out in 2020. This year, Big Thief released "Vampire Empire" (one of our favourite songs of the year) and "Born for Loving You."

This January, Lenker will be teaching an online songwriting workshop through School of Song.
