Before Absolutely Free drop their sophomore album Aftertouch tomorrow, they've hit us with another preview of the record in the form of one last single.
Today, they share the record's opening track, "Epilogue (After Touch)," alongside a visualizer by Rachelle Walker.
The band said of the release: "'Epilogue (After Touch)' conjures an existence, where a linear progression of time no longer seems applicable. With reference to cinematic narrative, the lyrics touch upon living in a contemporary culture that seems to be referential and symbolic of what's already in the past."
In addition to the arrival of "Epilogue (After Touch)," the band have also created an enhanced, interactive website that includes visualizers for every song. Album closer "Morning Sun" comes with its own web app that locates where the sun is currently rising on the planet, while "Clear Blue Sky" is due to launch a Google Maps-generated video unique to the viewer's location on October 1. See all the goodies here.
Aftertouch was produced by Jorge Elbrecht (No Joy, Gang Gang Dance, Japanese Breakfast) and, according to a press release, features "a tug-of-war between sonic harmony and the foregrounded discordance of present-day society." The record marks the official follow-up to 2014's self-titled debut. However, the band have stayed busy in recent years, releasing soundtracks, EPs and solo albums.
The group are due to perform cuts from Aftertouch this weekend in Toronto, with a special performance at Long Winter Together Apart on Saturday (September 25).
Ahead of the album's midnight release (via Boiled Records), watch the visualizer for "Epilogue (After Touch)" below.
