The Toronto International Film Festival recently wrapped its 2019 edition, and now the organization has made some major changes. In a new restructure, the company has laid off 15 employees.

In an email to the CBC, a TIFF spokesperson confirmed that 15 employees had been let go Tuesday (November 19). When asked which positions were terminated, the spokesperson said employees "were laid off across all departments."

"In recent months, TIFF undertook a comprehensive review of its Audience First strategic plan and operating model, to evaluate where we are as an organization relative to our stated goals," TIFF said in a statement.

"As a normal course of business, we recalibrated our strategic plan to achieve optimal impact and be more efficient. The TIFF team is working over the next few months on the implementation of this refocused plan. We will have more details to share in the spring."

This year's fest marked the first festival with new co-heads Cameron Bailey and Joana Vicente in charge. They had taken over for Piers Handling, who stepped down from the CEO title after the 2018 fest.
