Sony has been trying to figure what to do with its lucrative 21 Jump Street franchise for years. Hell, the movie's sequel did enormous numbers (a fact that Channing Tatum absolutely loved), and there was briefly talk of mashing it up with Men in Black. Now, however, it looks as if studio execs are doing the thing they love most — a gender-swapped reboot.

According to Collider, Tiffany Haddish is currently in talks to potentially star in the forthcoming reboot. If the comedian signs on, she's expected to play an undercover cop disguised as a teacher.

Haddish is not the only it woman eyeing a role in the project. Awkwafina is also reportedly closing in on the deal.

The new 21 Jump Street movie will be directed by Rodney Rothman, who previously wrote 22 Jump Street. The film will once again be produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
