Henry Cavill's abrupt departure from The Witcher has been the subject of much speculation since he shared the news last fall. A show insider has finally shed some light on the topic, with director Marc Jobst claiming that Cavill stepped away from the show due to its physicality.
Jobst, who directed two episodes in the show's first season, made the claim in an interview with ScreenRant this week.
"Henry does every single beat of his stunts. He won't even allow a hand. If you're doing a close-up of a hand grabbing a sword, it has to be his hand," he said. "That's draining on your number one, so after three series, I feel, 'Okay, he's brought the show into being, and if he feels like he's done what he can, I trust him.'"
No other parties involved in the show's production have commented on why Cavill left the show, including the people at Netflix and Cavill himself, which left plenty of room for conspiracy.
One popular theory suggested that he'd left to return to his role as Superman — which he lost shortly after —given that he made the two announcements within weeks of each other.
Regardless, his time in both roles is done, and Geralt of Rivia is now Liam Hemsworth's job to lose.
