There have been plenty of celebrities who had public battles with COVID-19, some of whom even sadly passed away. Actress Salma Hayek has kept it a secret that she herself had a close call with the coronavirus.
Speaking with Variety, Hayek revealed that she contracted the disease in early 2020 and got incredibly sick, to the point where her doctor insisted she go to the hospital.
"My doctor begged me to go to the hospital because it was so bad," she recalled. "I said: 'No, thank you. I'd rather die at home.'"
Hayek spent seven weeks isolated in a room in her house, where she was put on oxygen. She also said she has struggled to get back to her full energy levels from before.
She's still managed to work, however. She'll next be seen in Ridley Scott's House of Gucci.
