Beloved actor, director and producer Penny Marshall has died at the age of 75. Her cause of death was reportedly due to complications involving diabetes.
TMZ reported the death earlier today, though she is said to have died in her Hollywood Hills home on Monday night (December 17).
Marshall first became famous when she starred in the hit '70s sitcom Laverne & Shirley. She went on to enjoy a wildly successful career in both acting and directing. Marshall famously directed Tom Hanks in Big, as well as A League of Their Own and Awakenings.
"Our family is heartbroken over the passing of Penny Marshall," her family said in a statement. "Penny was a tomboy who loved sports, doing puzzles of any kind, drinking milk and Pepsi together and being with her family."
