Though you may not be old enough to remember, there was a time in the mid-'90s when Myst was everywhere. The beloved puzzle videogame was an enormous hit, spawning numerous sequels. Now, it's finally being considered for film and television.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the game's rights have been purchased by Village Roadshow Entertainment Group, which plans to develop a full, multi-platform universe that includes both scripted and unscripted material in both film and TV.

The various projects are being produced with the participation of Rand and Robyn Miller, the brothers who created the Myst franchise. Following the success of the first Myst game, the series also inspired a series of novels outside of its numerous games.

Stay tuned for more news on Myst as it develops.
