A couple of Winnipeg newlyweds got a Hollywood surprise at their wedding reception over the weekend. After tying the knot on Saturday (July 22), Kirsten and Kayleigh Jennings' celebratory reception was crashed by A-list actress Kristen Stewart and her Victoria's Secret model girlfriend Stella Maxwell.
The Jennings had rented out Winnipeg's Pizzeria Gusto for their party, but around 10 p.m. management pulled the brides aside to ask if the pair of uninvited guests could join them for a few drinks.
According to CBC, Kirsten's response was, "Yeah, totally! Yeah, no problem. Um, who is that?"
Her new wife Kayleigh, an Oklahoma native, let her roots show and welcomed the additional guests. "I told Kir, 'Hey, let's just treat them as random guests. Let's just treat them with kindness — southern hospitality. Winnipeg hospitality,'" she told CBC.
"They looked just like two normal girls. They look a little Hollywood, but if we didn't know who they were, I don't know if I would have known," Kirsten added. "We said 'Hey, you know. Come on and meet your guests and, you know, don't segregate yourselves. Come and party.'"
Apparently Stewart and Maxwell did just that, joining the crowd to drink, dance and request songs until about 1 a.m.
"There were only a few people who were star-struck," Kirsten said, explaining that she wasn't as stunned to meet the stars as she thought she would be. "My Aunt Linda was extremely excited."
Stewart is currently filming a movie in Winnipeg. She gained critical praise for her performance in Personal Shopper last year, even landing a hosting gig on Saturday Night Live back in February. She's also recently collaborated on projects with musically minded artists like St. Vincent and the Rolling Stones.
