'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom' Cut a Lesbian Character's Dialogue

This weekend, we'll finally get to see Juan Antonio Bayona's highly anticipated Jurassic World sequel. While Fallen Kingdom will certainly be packed with all sorts of species, the film passed on an opportunity for increased human representation by cutting an LGBTQ reference.

In an interview with Build, actor Daniella Pineda said there was a scene where her character Zia Rodriguez revealed she was a lesbian, but the scene was ultimately cut.

"I understood why they cut it — for sake of time. It's me and Chris Pratt and we are in a military vehicle with all of these mercenaries," she said. "I look at Chris and am like, 'Yeah. Square jaw. Good bone structure. Tall. Muscles. I don't date men, but if I did, it would be you. It would gross me out, but I would do it.'"

She added of the now-deleted dialogue, "It was cool, because it was a little insight into my character."

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens on Friday (June 22).
