Vancouver is often known as "Hollywood North" because of its frequent use as a filming location, and John Mulaney and Conan O'Brien have shed some light on the city's reputation within the film industry, poking fun at its cheap background performers.
Mulaney appeared on today's episode of the podcast Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend. During the interview, the discussion moved onto how films are financed, with Mulaney admitting that movie financing is "all I think about."
The comedian said, "You ever watch a movie and you notice: there's no extras. They didn't have a dime. That's Vancouver and there's no extras!"
Conan immediately burst into laughter, adding, "They work for Tim Hortons coffee and a pancake, and there's no extras."
