Jack Black Is Really Passionate About Vancouver's Grouse Grind

He shouted out the hike while interviewing himself on the Golden Globes red carpet

Since so many movies are filmed in Vancouver, most of Hollywood's big names are familiar with the city. Jack Black, for one, is particularly fond of hiking local trail, the Grouse Grind, as he detailed with passionate fervour at the Golden Globes last night.

Black was making his way across the red carpet when he spotted a CTV etalk reporter and decided to conduct his own interview.

"I like Canada," he said, unprompted and without letting the reporter get a word in edgewise. "You ever been to Vancouver? You ever hike up that mountain there, the Grouse Grind? You get to the top, you drink that smoothie."

And, satisfied with that, he walked off, potentially in search of another reporter to stun.

Black was at the awards show nominated for his performance on The Super Mario Bros. Movie's viral hit "Peaches" in the Best Original Song category, which was ultimately taken by Billie Eilish's "What Was I Made For?" from Barbie

Given the insane "Peaches"-esque growl he added when he said "Grouse Grind," it's safe to say that the actor is a big fan of the hike — and the smoothies at the top, courtesy of Peak Juice Bar

Black will continue the video game adaptation arc of his career in 2024 and beyond, with a Borderlands movie slated for August and a live-action Minecraft film in the works as well.
