'Game of Thrones' Fans Are Roasting This Daenerys Targaryen Wax Figure

"I think you need to melt her back down and start from scratch"

Sometimes, wax figures of celebrities seem a little too real. Other times, they are laughably bad. Unfortunately for Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke, fans of the show are ruling that a new wax likeness of her Daenerys Targaryen character falls into the latter category.

To celebrate the wildly popular series' connections to Ireland, Dublin's National Wax Museum unveiled a waxwork of the dragon queen yesterday (April 24) after teasing its arrival earlier in the month.

"It's our first wax work this year and we're delighted to add an extra woman to the museum," the museum's Laoise Keaveney told Dublin's FM104. "Game of Thrones obviously is huge in Ireland, and it's filmed in Ireland, and we thought the best thing is to add a woman from Game of Thrones to the museum."
However, fan reaction to the waxwork hasn't been quite as kind. One commenter on Instagram called the figure "an insult to Emilia Clarke," while another wrote, "Is it April 1st? I think you need to melt her back down and start from scratch."

Other comparisons in the comments ranged from "Katie Hopkins after a night out," to Lord of the Rings' Legolas, to "a gelfling from The Dark Crystal."

User @daredazzler offered a helpful suggestion, writing, "At least yous can just paint it red when yous need to rebrand it as Hellboy."

Last month, Clarke revealed she suffered two life-threatening brain hemorrhages since the start of 2011. Game of Thrones, meanwhile, is currently airing its eighth and final season on HBO.
