The dynamic DANIELS duo behind new A24 maximalist mind-boggler Everything Everywhere All at Once are teaming up again to direct and executive-produce a new comedy series for Showtime.
Co-directors Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan will collaborate with the studio to produce Mason, with Steven Yeun (fresh off of Jordan Peele's latest Nope, as well as recent production credits in Tuca & Bertie and Netflix's upcoming Beef) executive-producing the series created by comedian Nathan Min. The comedian is also set to star in the pilot.
Based on Min's own real-life experiences, Mason is billed as a surrealist comedy about a quiet man named Nathan — whose name is often misheard as Mason — tip-toeing his way through a loud and overwhelming world, as per Variety.
"Nathan has brought Showtime a disarmingly funny and emotional project that feels like a punch to the gut in how astutely it conveys the trials and tribulations of being a human today," Showtime's original programming EVP Amy Israel said in a statement.
Isreal added: "We can't wait to see him team up with Daniels — who have emerged as a force with their incredible, mind-bending film that revolutionized what seemed possible on the screen — as well as the immensely multi-talented Steven Yeun and our friends at A24. Mason has every chance of emerging as a brilliant and cathartic comedy for our viewers."
A release schedule for the project has yet to be revealed.
