Donald Trump Has Been Banned from Twitch

It's not easy out there for a Twitch streamer. Hell, if you want to make it to Partner status, you've got to stream at all hours and maintain a steady viewership. Unfortunately, Donald Trump will probably have to stick to his day job as president of the United States because the service has hit him with a temporary ban.

Trump — not to be confused with the other recently banned Twitch streamer Dr. Disrespect — was hit with a ban on his account @TeamTrump. The news was first reported by a Twitter account that monitors stream bans:

It's unclear precisely what caused Trump's ban, and there are literally dozens of things he's said and done that go against Twitch's rules.

Still, a representative from Twitch confirmed to Kotaku that the unfortunate leader of the free world had been hit with a temporary suspension.

"Hateful conduct is not allowed on Twitch," the spokesperson said. "In line with our policies, President Trump's channel has been issued a temporary suspension from Twitch for comments made on stream, and the offending content has been removed."

The representative cited two examples of hateful conduct from Trump's past, including a line when he referred to Mexican immigrants as "rapists" while campaigning in 2016 and another time when he accused a "very tough hombre" of "breaking into the window of a young woman whose husband is away." The @TeamTrump channel had recently rebroadcast those speeches.

"Like anyone else, politicians on Twitch must adhere to our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines," the Twitch representative concluded. "We do not make exceptions for political or newsworthy content, and will take action on content reported to us that violates our rules."

Donald Trump's particularly online fans had another blow earlier today when Reddit banned /r/the_donald as an effort to crack down on hate speech.
