David Arquette on Wrestling Death Match: "I Have Zero Plans to Be Involved in a Match Like This Again"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Nov 20, 2018

Actor/producer David Arquette fought in a wrestling death match last week against Nick Gage, and it wasn't pretty. After getting thrown through a door, sliced with a pizza cutter and having light tubes smashed over his head, he was rushed to the emergency room, and he's now spoken out in detail about the in-ring experience.

Arquette took to Twitter, acknowledging that he takes responsibility "for putting myself in that situation."

He explained that he "knew it was violent and potentially bloody," and had prepared by training and competing in indie matches ahead of the death match — "but I truly did not know the extent of what I was participating in."

Arquette also emphasized that last week's match was not an accurate depiction of the traditional sport of wrestling and apologized for any "negative attention" the sport had received.

Arquette closed by ensuring fans that he has "zero plans to be involved in a match like this again," though he is hoping to get back in a more traditional ring soon. He also promised new acting and producing projects in 2019.
