He "wasn't a serial killer, which we were stoked about"

While Chris Hemsworth is recognized as a superhero on-screen these days, a hitchhiker in the actor's Australia is just as thankful for his heroics away from set.

Yesterday (October 21), Hemsworth posted a video to Instagram that showed himself and friend Luke Zocchi picking up an unknown hitchhiker in Brisbane.

The hitchhiker turned out to be U.S. musician Scott Hildebrand, who told Hemsworth and Zocchi that he had arrived on the continent from Mexico.

Like the pair who picked him up, Hildebrand was headed for popular surf destination Byron Bay, with Hemsworth and company agreeing to give him a ride. "Little does he know we're getting a chopper," Zocchi says in the video.

After flying Hildebrand to Byron Bay, Hemsworth joked that it was "back to hitchiking" for the musician. You can watch the actor's recap of the hitchhiking adventure below.

Hildebrand told E! News that "the experience was so cool and unexpected. They're so nice and I couldn't believe it was happening."
