Chris Hemsworth and his family are donating $1 million USD to help fight the Australian bushfires that are currently devastating the continent.

The Thor star, who grew up in Melbourne, announced his pledge via an Instagram video earlier today.

"I'm going to put forward a million dollars, and I was hoping that all of you could contribute in any way, shape or form," he said. "Every dollar counts. That money goes directly to the firefighters, the people on the frontlines, the people who have suffered, the communities that have taken a hit and are in desperate need of our support."

He also shared links to organizations contributing to the relief and recovery effort, like the Australian Red Cross, the World Wildlife Fund and the New South Wales Rural Fire Service.
