"Even though I've never had a wife, I could just as easily have a wife as a husband"

Controversial Tiger King figure and Big Cat Rescue owner Carole Baskin has come out as bisexual.

In conversation with PinkNews, Netflix's most prolific cat lady announced her sexual orientation publicly, explaining that she discovered her attraction to women back in the '80s through proximity to the LGBTQ+ community during the AIDS crisis.

"I have always considered myself to be bisexual," Baskin expressed. "Even though I've never had a wife, I could just as easily have a wife as a husband."

She elaborated: "I was engaged to a psychologist, and that was his entire field, dealing with the LGBT+ community. It was during the period when AIDS was just wreaking havoc around the world, and people were losing their loved ones, and so I became very close to people in that community then."

Baskin also said that she grew up feeling like a tomboy who was "probably born into the wrong body," before coming to the realization that she had "equal feelings for women" as she had for men.

Baskin is currently married to Big Cat Rescue CEO Howard Baskin. Their wedding took place in 2004, following the legal declaration of her missing ex-husband Don Lewis' death in 2002.

As far as her rival (openly gay Tiger King co-star Joe Exotic) is concerned, Baskin conceded that "he's an embarrassment to the human community," when asked about his representation of the queer community.
