Betty White has reportedly died at the age of 99.

TMZ reports that the Golden Girls actor died at home on Friday (December 31), according to sources from law enforcement.

White died just a few weeks short of her 100th birthday. Just yesterday (December 30), she tweeted out People's cover story celebrating her birthday.

White began her TV career in 1939. After putting her career on hold to enlist with the American Women's Voluntary Services during World War II, she found work as an actor, and starred in various iterations of shows called The Betty White Show. Other notable credits from her early career included Life with Elizabeth and Hollywood on Television.

She won Emmys for her recurring role on The Mary Tyler Moore Show in the '70s, and appeared in what many consider to be her signature role as Rose Nylund in Golden Girls from 1985 to 1992.

Throughout her career, she won eight Emmy Awards. In 2012, she won a Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Recording for her 2011 book If You Ask Me (And of Course You Won't). Among her many honours, she also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

She remained in the public eye until the very end of her life. In 2019, she had a voice role in Toy Story 4, and she was in the news this week when Ryan Reynolds made joking comments about a supposed past relationship with her.

She was married three times; the first two ended in divorce, while her marriage to Allen Ludden lasted nearly 18 years until his death in 1981.

This is a developing story.
