Barney Is the Subject of "Death and Dismemberment" in New Trailer for 'I Love You, You Hate Me'

Who remembers "I hate you / You hate me / Let's go out and kill Barney" from the playground?

A new documentary about Barney the dinosaur aims to answer the age-old question: Why do people love to hate?

The trailer for the upcoming limited series I Love You, You Hate Me examines that question by showcasing many disturbing images of the educational TV figure, including clips of toys of him being lit on fire, hung and smashed into pieces.

The docuseries will go through songs and rumours disseminated by violent kids on the playground, even addressing one about Barney "hiding drugs in his tail." Though we haven't thought about those grade school Barney haters in quite some time, it still feels absurd for a Barney the dinosaur doc to talk about "death and dismemberment"; Caillou was far more annoying. (Though Barney made an in-person appearance at my third birthday party, so my bias may be showing.)

I Love You, You Hate Me will arrive on October 12. Watch the trailer below.
