Jessica Walter, the legendary actress best known for playing the role of Lucille Bluth on Arrested Development, has passed away. She was 80 years old.
A cause of death has not yet been revealed, but Walter passed away in her sleep in New York City on Wednesday (March 24).
Walter led a long and storied career before Arrested Development, including roles in The Flamingo Kid and Clint Eastwood's Play Misty for Me to Emmy-nominated roles in the likes of Trapper John M..D. and Streets of San Francisco.
She was also nominated for an Emmy and two SAG awards for Arrested Development and won an Emmy for her starring role in Amy Prentiss. More recently, Walter voiced Malory Archer on FXX's Archer.
She is survived by her daughter Brooke Bowman and grandson Micah Heymann. Bowman confirmed her mother's death with the following statement:
It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my beloved mom Jessica. A working actor for over six decades, her greatest pleasure was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on screen and off. While her legacy will live on through her body of work, she will also be remembered by many for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre.
