Anna Kendrick Got Stuck "Vibing" in an Elevator at TIFF

"This is why I should take the stairs next time."

If Anna Kendrick was late to any TIFF engagements over the weekend, she had an excellent excuse, as she and members of her team required a rescue from a packed elevator.

Yesterday (September 11), Kendrick shared a video documenting the ordeal on social media, showing that it wasn't TIFF street closures or an underfunded transit network that upended her itinerary.

"Ah, the classic 'I'm behind schedule at this film festival because I had to be rescued from an elevator' excuse #TIFF22," she wrote in a caption.

The Oscar-nominated actress is in town as the star of Alice, Darling, which had its TIFF premiere Sunday night at Roy Thompson Hall. Shot last June in Kawartha Lakes, the film follows Kendrick as a woman whose anxiety is rooted in a manipulative relationship she is looking to leave.

Thankfully, Kendrick's clip from inside the elevator made it seem like the mood was anything but anxious. "This is why I shouldn't leave the house without at least ... a little airplane-sized bottle because you never know when you're going to get stuck in an elevator … Guys, we have to ration the limited food supply that we have," she jokes as one of her fellow riders pulls out a pack of gum.

"Just vibing in the elevator. … We love it," Kendrick wrote in some subsequent overlaid text, clearly making light of the situation.

Eventually, Kendrick and her crew of trapped riders were evacuated to safety, climbing a ladder out of the stuck elevator. "This is why I should take the stairs next time," she said. "It's a good thing I'm not wearing a short skirt today. The Lord said to me, 'Choose the long skirt, Anna.'"

Kendrick also snapped some photos with first responders, whom CTV News Toronto has identified as fire crews from Station 331.
