Rejoice Adventure Time fans — the show is coming back.

Today it was announced that the beloved animated series — which aired its "final" episode in 2018 — will return for a series of specials. The one-hour Adventure Time specials will air on HBO Max, with the first two arriving in 2020 and then two more to follow.

The news comes in the wake of HBO recently announcing that the company had secured the rights to Studio Ghibli for its new streaming service.

Created by Pendleton Ward, the Adventure Time specials will still come from Cartoon Network Studios and will collectively be known as Adventure Time: Distant Lands.

"The enchanted world of Adventure Time has mesmerized viewers and critics alike as Finn and Jake right wrongs and battle evil," said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, in a statement. "The addition of these specials to the HBO Max kids and family programming lineup is sure to make kids everywhere say 'Slam-bam-in-a-can.'"

The first two specials will be called "BMO" and "Obsidian," with the former of course focusing on the show's beloved robot of the same name. "Obsidian," meanwhile" will feature Marceline and Princess Bubblegum as they stamp out a world-destroying catastrophe.

Another special has been titled "Wizard City" and will follow Peppermint Butler's adventures in Wizard School, while "Together Again" will feature Finn and Jake and apparently one of their most important quests ever.

Right now, no firm premiere dates for the specials have been set, but stay tuned.
