Adult Swim has cut ties with Justin Roiland following the animator's domestic violence charges, as Rick and Morty prepares to go ahead with a new season without its co-creator.

In a statement from the show's official social channels, Rick and Morty announced that it had "ended its association with Justin Roiland," and that the "crew are hard at work on Season 7."

In addition to being a co-creator and executive producer of Rick and Morty, Roiland voiced both of the title characters. Those roles will have to be recast.

Roiland is also the co-creator of Squanch Games. Today, the company announced that Roiland had tendered his resignation, and that the company will continue without him.

Roiland also co-created Solar Opposites, although it isn't with Adult Swim. Hulu has not commented publicly on the future of that show.

Roiland has been charged with domestic battery and false imprisonment over an alleged 2020 incident involving a former partner. He has pleaded not guilty.
