A Reboot of 'The Office' Is Reportedly Staring Directly into the Camera

You miss 100 percent of the reboots you don't make

After 146 days on the picket line, striking writers barely had time to celebrate reaching a tentative agreement with film and TV studios last night (September 24) before reports of a reboot of NBC's The Office began circulating.

The rumour was derived from entertainment journalist Matt Belloni's paywalled Puck newsletter, where he reported that the show's creator Greg Daniels is currently working on a reboot of the beloved comedy, which finished airing its ninth and final season in 2013. This was reportedly all the information given, but it's surely enough to put Billie Eilish into a frenzy.

With that comes a lot of unanswered questions about what a reboot of The Office would even entail. Wouldn't a paper company like Dunder Mifflin feel all the more redundant in the work-from-home era? Can we still feel god in this Chili's tonight? Which members of the original cast would return?

Over the years, many of the series' actors — including John Krasinski (Jim), Jenna Fischer (Pam), Angela Kinsey (Angela), Mindy Kaling (Kelly), Leslie David Baker (Stanley) and Creed Bratton (Creed) — have expressed their willingness to come back if the timing and circumstances were right. Fischer and Kinsey currently co-host a The Office-themed podcast, so they seem like a safe bet, but Krasinski and Kaling might be a little busy with their respective careers having since exploded.

Much like Kevin's famous chili recipe, only in time will all be revealed.
