The annual broadcast of the Emmy Awards is the latest victim of American studio executives' refusal to lighten their pockets, with its 75th edition having reportedly been postponed as a result of the ongoing writers' and actors' strikes.
Initially slated for September 18, The New York Times have hypothesized that the ceremony could be pushed back as far as next January based on an insider report.
As the respective unions continue to seek fair pay, the film industry has been in shambles, with red carpet events and premiere dates (and even some concerts?) being postponed and cancelled left and right — while others have been forced to go on without their stars.
It's not just Hollywood; the production shutdowns have affected those shooting on location or gathering in writers' rooms in Canada, too. But, as of right now, TIFF is still to go on as scheduled.
Succession, The Last of Us, The White Lotus and The Bear headline the 2023 Emmy nominees. Find the full list here.
