Before Saturday Night Live's current season kicked off, Taran Killan was cut from the cast, but it turns out that the guy isn't hurting for employment opportunities. The actor/comedian has been announced as one of the latest cast additions to the wildly popular Broadway musical Hamilton.
As of January 17, Killam will step into the shoes (and fancy crown) of King George in the New York production.
It won't be Killam's first old-timey role, either. One of Killam's most memorable SNL characters was Jebediah Atkinson — an 1860s newspaper critic and frequent Weekend Update guest.
Killam made his stage debut last year in the Jake Gyllenhaal-starring production of Little Shop of Horrors. He's also appeared in films like The Heat and 12 Years a Slave.
Other names joining the cast of Hamilton over the next few months include Alysha Deslorieux, J. Quinton Johnson, Bryan Terrell Clark and Anthony Lee Medina.
In different news related to the Broadway hit, The Hamilton Mixtape is currently sitting at No. 1 on the Billboard charts; the compilation album is comprised of songs inspired by the stage show and features appearances from Chance the Rapper, Sia, John Legend, Wiz Khalifa, Usher, Regina Spektor and the Roots.
