T.J. Miller Accused of Violent Sexual Assault and Abuse

Comedian and movie star T.J. Miller has been accused of violent sexual assault and physical abuse by a former college classmate with whom he was romantically linked.

The allegations come from a woman using the pseudonym Sarah in a piece published by The Daily Beast. Details of Sarah's story were corroborated with five other people, and the publication also spoke with associates of both Sarah and Miller.

Please note that Sarah's story features graphic, disturbing details.

Sarah attended George Washington University with Miller in the early 2000s, where the two were both involved with the comedy troupe receSs. The two started dating in the fall of 2001, when things took a dark turn.

A few months into their relationship, Sarah said she had a lot to drink at a party. She added that there are "parts of [the incident] I don't remember," but remembered "fooling around" with Miller when he started "shaking [her] violently." She added that he allegedly punched her in the mouth during sex.

Sarah said she woke up with a fractured tooth and a bloody lip, at which point Miller told her she had fallen over in a drunken state the night before.

Days after the first incident, she left another party with Miller and took him back to her apartment, where they began engaging in consensual sex. Sarah said she only had two drinks that night, and her memories of the evening were crystal clear.

"We started to fool around, and very early in that, he put his hands around my throat and closed them, and I couldn't breathe," she said. "I was genuinely terrified and completely surprised. I understand now that this is for some people a kink, and I continue to believe it is [something] that should be entered into by consenting parties. But, as someone who had only begun having sexual encounters, like, about three months earlier, I had no awareness this was a kink, and I had certainly not entered into any agreement that I would be choked."

Sarah said that her choking was so loud that her roommates rushed to her door to see if everything was okay. "I don't know," she recalled telling them. "I'll talk to you in the morning."

She added allegations that Miller anally penetrated her without her consent ("I actually believe at that point I cried out, like, 'No,' and he didn't continue to do that," she said) and also allegedly penetrated her with a beer bottle without her consent.

T.J. Miller and his wife Kate released a statement to The Daily Beast denying any wrongdoing. They alleged that Sarah had been trying to ruin their relationship since it began around the same time.

"Sadly she is now using the current climate to bandwagon and launch these false accusations again," the Millers said of Sarah. "It is unfortunate that she is choosing this route as it undermines the important movement to make women feel safe coming forward about legitimate claims against real known predators."

Despite the statement, however, multiple sources told The Daily Beast that women in the comedy community have refused to work with Miller, citing a perceived history of abuse from the comedian. Further, last year he was arrested for allegedly assaulting an Uber driver before abruptly parting ways with the hit show Silicon Valley.
