Coming together from across their various Western Canadian home bases, indie outfit Zerbin are set to unveil their latest LP Darling tomorrow (April 14) — but you can stream it at Exclaim! right now, a day early.
The band describe their sound as "melodic symphonic prophetic alternative indie rock music," and though it may be a mouthful to say, it's certainly easier to listen to. The 11-song collection ranges from dancier, indie pop numbers like opener "Real Time Fall" to the twangy, clap-along rock'n'roll of "C'est La Vie" to the slow-building orchestral pop of the title track.
"A lot of the record references relationship or spirituality, as they are lenses that we tend to see through," said Zerbin in a statement about the new material. "Each song became a different brush stroke in an attempt to make a picture of this life, with all its glorious complexity."
It's a diverse mix from the group, who self-produced the album with vintage gear out in a house on Vancouver Island. Now, you can hear the results for yourself.
Darling is out April 14 via Fontana North. Give it an early spin in the player below.
