Albany, NY's Young Culture recently announced they had signed to Equal Vision Records alongside a brand new single entitled "Drift." We met up with the pop-punk band when they were in Toronto tracking the song at Room 21 Sound with Sam Guaiana, and they stripped it down for Exclaim! TV's No Future, also busting out an acoustic version of "Bloom."
"Drift" really proves Young Culture earned their spot on their new label home, with the musical hooks and killer vocal melodies originally captured by co-producer and State Champs frontman Derek DiScanio. However, "Bloom" could very well be the reason they got signed, as the energy pulses through from the moment the percussion kicks off.
Throughout both songs, the contrast between an acoustic and an electric guitar — the latter allowing the leads to really cut through — ensures this stripped-down session doesn't feel empty.
