Earlier this morning (July 10), Yo La Tengo unveiled the psychedelic wonderworld that is their animated "Ohm" video, but that's not the weirdest bit of news to come from the Hoboken indie crew today. Trumping their crazy clip, the band have announced that they'll issue the song in a triple 12-inch package, which comes packaged in a shower curtain.
Set to hit stores later this month via Matador, the limited-edition release is housed in "a 4-box poly shower curtain display case" that comes with its own metal grommets. Matador recommends you hang the art piece on your wall, but should your shower not be equipped with a radio, we figure looking at the artwork for the Fade single while scrubbing yourself up might inspire a whistle or two.
As for the musical content, the package features six variations of "Ohm" spread out over three slabs of wax, which correspond to the panelling of the curtain. The orange cover panel is represented by the album version of the single, while the red cover is tied to a "live rock version," and the yellow cover is linked to the "live quiet version." Each A-side is fit with an original remix from Oriole. Additionally, a digital download card included in the package gives you a radio edit of "Ohm."
You can pre-order the single now over on Matador online store, while copies will also be sold at Chicago's Pitchfork Fest, which runs July 19 to 21. "Ohm" hits traditional stores July 30.
