Yacht Announce Canadian Tour, Brave Vancouver During the Olympics

BY Alex HudsonPublished Dec 9, 2009

Touring Canada during the winter isn't exactly the most inviting prospect, with precarious roads and long stretches of ice and snow. This year there's the Olympics, however, meaning there's more incentive than usual for American bands to make the trip up north.

Electronics-loving Portland, OR duo Yacht will be one of those bands making the trip early next year, and will be playing in Vancouver on February 19 - in the midst of the Olympic festivities. After playing Victoria the next day, the band will then head east, playing a nine-stop tour that will take them as far as Montreal.

The tour comes in support of See Mystery Lights, Yacht's latest album, which was released back in the summer. The record was the first with Claire Evans on board as a full-fledged member of the band, meaning that Yacht is no longer simply the solo project of electronic songwriter Jona Bechtolt. But you knew all this already, right?
