After a few lacklustre albums, Wolfie has grown up a bit, showing a little promise in the songwriting department on their new EP from Kindercore. Awful Mess Mystery and Where's Wolfie? both lacked on all fronts, with lame synth lines dominating boring song structures layered with nasally vocals. Although the vocals are still edgy at times, and the songs are certainly not thoroughly engaging, this jangly release gives hope to a once-ridiculed outfit. Consider Wolfie the farm team whose players will someday be appreciated once their skills are properly honed. The harmonious atmosphere of Wolfie, And the Coat and Hat, particularly the joyful "The All Good People," is definitely a sign of better things to come.
