The upcoming year promises to be a hectic one for the boys of Wolf Parade. Between them, the Montreal-based indie rock quintet have at least three albums on the horizon.
Dante DeCaro (guitarist) and Hadji Bakara (synthesiser and effects man) are currently joining forces with the new band, Final Fantasy: Online aka Internet, alongside Syd Butler (Les Savy Fav), Nick Diamonds (Islands), Jamie Thompson (Islands) and Amber Webber (Black Mountain). The "indie supergroup initially got together for an April 10 gig at McSweeneys "The World, Explained," a New York comedy/music fundraiser for 826NYC and 826LA creative writing centres. Reviews of the bands debut performance were mixed, and whether the group will live long enough to release its first album remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, WP front-man/keyboardist Spencer Krugs, Sunset Rubdown, plan to release their next album this fall and guitarist Dan Boeckners new band, Handsome Furs, will put out their debut album, Plague Park, on May 22. Wolf Parades much-anticipated follow up to 2005s Polaris-nominated Apologies to the Queen Mary is slated for release on Sub Pop some time this summer.
