While travelling across Australia on tour, Wet Leg made sure to stop by Triple J to deliver a cover of the Chats' 2017 single, "Smoko," for Like a Version.
"The Chats are a beacon of joy and fun and not being too serious in a serious world … seriously," said Wet Leg member Hester Chambers, mentioning that fellow bandmate Rhian Teasdale showed her the song a few years back.
The band, whose debut landed on Exclaim!'s 29 Best Albums of 2022 So Far, wants everyone to know exactly how ethereal they think the Chats are: "I don't even know if they're real, they might be like a mystical creature that doesn't actually exist," Teasdale joked.
"I hope not, but I wouldn't be surprised," Chambers added.
