Weights and Measures

This Ottawa instrumental trio have perfected a brand of aggressive math rock all their own. The volatile and intricate rhythms may elicit moments of Polvo, but they rock with a fury and tension more akin to the recordings of Don Caballero. The guitar, bass and drums work as a tight machine slinging their fired-up stop/start and push/pull riffage off the walls, only to be hurled back again on the rebound. Mellower moments conjure Ottawa's the Wooden Stars, which shouldn't be too much of a surprise considering that the rhythm section have performed with Star Michael Feuerstack in his Snailhouse project. The ten tracks on this debut stagger and stutter with a confidence that implies more great work is yet to come.
