We Regret to Inform That HAIM Also Played the Bored Ape Yacht Club Party

Now I'm in It

The apeshit continues: after LCD Soundsystem kicked off NFT company Bored Ape Yacht Club's exclusive ApeFest cryptocurrency jamboree in New York City earlier this week, HAIM have followed in their footsteps.

Clips of the sister act performing at the event last night (June 21) have circulated on social media, almost entirely by folks who have saddled their wagons to those pricey, aesthetically upsetting monkey Twitter profile pictures. Apparently Timbaland and Lil Baby also took the stage to do a little song and dance for the NFT bros at Pier 17, while a Snoop Dogg impersonator was spotted milling about. ApeFest certainly sounds like a sight to behold, we'll give them that.

And more to the credit of the BAYC (and Mutant Ape Yacht Club) token-owners, they were at least willing to brave the rain — that does fall mainly on the plain in Spain — for HAIM, even if some of them had no idea who the Grammy-winning trio were prior to their appearance. We suppose they can't be everyone's Beatles.

When they weren't too busy vaping and looking bored to notice, the poncho-clad crowd was treated to hits new and old, from "Summer Girl" off of Women in Music Pt. III to Days Are Gone's "My Song 5." Actually, the lyrics to the latter seem to bend pretty nicely to fit the situation, with the siblings ironically singing, "I'll be up going through / Crazy shit I did for you," and inevitably reflecting on their decision to perform at ApeFest.

But again, they're hardly the first: before recent WE days as we know them, Arcade Fire made their live return at a crypto gala in Las Vegas last December.

See some snippets of HAIM's surprise performance below, although nobody seems to have captured them doing their infamous dance.
