Those who were already planning to make the pilgrimage to Oro-Medonte for next year's edition of WayHome may want to take a rain check, as organizers behind the event have announced the festival will go on hiatus in 2018.

In a press release, promoter Republic Live revealed that the Ontario festival "will be on pause in 2018," adding that "this isn't goodbye, just see you later."

"After much consideration, we have made the difficult decision to push pause on the 2018 edition, to allow us to reflect, re-assess and re-imagine the event," Republic Live co-founder Eva Dunford said in a statement. "We want to thank all of our fans, artists, staff, vendors, sponsors, suppliers, partners, and community members. We sincerely appreciate your support and participation over the last three years to create a truly special festival."

The press release also notes that Republic Live will produce "a series of concerts and events throughout the summer of 2018, and will continue to expand on the functionality of the privately owned Burl's Creek Event Grounds venue," where WayHome has been held each year since its 2015 inception.

"The custom-designed 600+ acre site is beyond comparison to others in this area. We have a huge opportunity to develop music and other events at Burl's Creek and will focus on these prospects over the next year and into the future," Republic Live CFO David Cuddy added in a statement.

WayHome's 2017 edition boasted Frank Ocean, Solange, Imagine Dragons and Flume. The festival's 2016 event featured LCD Soundsystem, Arcade Fire and the Killers, while its inaugural year found Neil Young & Promise of the Real, Kendrick Lamar and Sam Smith atop the bill.
