Water To Go

Water To Go

BY Brent HagermanPublished Feb 1, 2003

Hailing from Raleigh, NC, Water To Go trade in what usually amounts to revamped '90s grunge. Their self-titled release gives the impression that although they are capable of writing some good original material ("Release Me" and "Great Divide"), like any bar circuit band they always have a few Stone Temple Pilot or Pearl Jam songs at the ready. In fact, "Purple" virtually eliminates the need for a Pearl Jam cover, as it sound like one of their songs anyway. Water To Go actually works best when they leave the grunge behind and either go semi-acoustic or in the case of "Great Divide," get marginally experimental. The last half of the CD was recorded live and gives the band a chance to rock out when they turn into a jam band on the final track.
