St. Vincent and Red Hot Chili Peppers both love singing about Los Angeles, so it naturally follows that the songwriter born Annie Clark has covered "Breaking the Girl" by RHCP.
St. Vincent unveiled the acoustic cover last night (January 13) during a performance at the Hollywood Palladium. The event, dubbed Malibu Love Sesh, was a benefit concert for victims of the recent Woolsey Fire. Red Hot Chili Peppers headlined the show.
St. Vincent performed the Blood Sugar Sex Magik tune in stripped-down acoustic fashion, and she was faithful to the original tune while still giving it her own distinctive vocal spin. Check out a very high-quality audience recording of "Breaking the Girl" below.
Sadly, the Chili Peppers didn't return the favour by playing one of her songs.
