Watch Dearly Beloved Recreate 'Repo Man' in New Music Video

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jul 24, 2017

Toronto noisemakers Dearly Beloved dropped their latest album Admission last year, and now two of the tracks off that record have been paired up and given the music video treatment.

"RIP" and "These Data" serve as the LP's opening cuts, but for the new clip, their order has been flipped. Stretched out over 10 minutes, the music video recreates the Emilio Estevez-starring flick Repo Man.

The band explain that they were looking to shoot a video in Los Angeles in the spirit of Alex Cox's '80s film, and the pieces fell into place when they crossed paths with director Michael Estrella.

"Incredibly, and much to our surprise, Michael enlisted friends, family, co-workers, neighbours and anyone else he could wrangle, including local shop owners, to make what became a two-and-a-half-song short film," the band tells Exclaim!

It was filmed between L.A. and Joshua Tree, and in addition to "These Data" and "RIP," the clip also features a bit of "Who Wants to Know."

Dearly Beloved will be playing Hamilton's Supercrawl on September 9, and you can follow their international schedule over here.
