Earlier this month, the 2018 Indigenous Music Awards honoured and celebrated work of First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples on Turtle Island. Now that the hardware has been handed out, the festival has launched a new video series with performances from a trio of this year's nominees.
The first instalment of the festival's IMA Sessions video series finds 2018 nominees Carolina East, Desiree Dorion and Quantum Tangle performing live off the floor at Arcade Studios in Niverville, MB.
East, who was nominated for Best Country Album, performs "Until You Are Sorry" alongside guitarist and backing vocalist Chris Ryan.
Dorion, who won the award for Best Country Album, is joined by her three-piece band for a run-through of "This Side of the Ground." Joining her are drummer Dylan Hermiston, mandolinist/vocalist Brenton Thorvaldson and guitarist/vocalist Dylan MacDonald.
Finally, Quantum Tangle used their session to showcase their expansion from a duo to a trio, with Greyson Gritt and Tiffany Ayalik welcoming drummer/vocalist/throat singer Kayley Mackay into the fold. The three-piece give listeners a taste of how the new lineup sounds with a performance of "Love Is Love Pt. 1."
You can watch all three sessions in the players below. The series was produced in partnership with Exclaim!, Arcade Studios and BNB Studios.
