Refining and building upon the aesthetic of their production on Speicher and their acclaimed Erdingertrax EP series, brothers Wolfgang and Reinhardt Voigt have teamed up again for a collection of tracks rooted in Kompakt's broad approach to electronic music. From stripped down ambient numbers to shuffling Schaffel cuts like "Der Erste Zug" to the retro, synth-driven "Triptychon Nummer 7," the brothers' first full-length takes a few left turns along the way, but their moody compositions are obviously influenced by German film and TV scores, along with the dance floor. Both "Sozial" and "Die Glocke (Endstation Wiener Platz)" dial back some of the momentum of the first part of the album, simmering the basic elements into a cinematic reduction of sound. "Hotel Noki" takes it a step further, slowly building into a tense outpouring of confined melodies and efficient percussion. Die Zauberhafte Welt Der Anderen may not be as focused as it could be, but it's still worth exploring.
