It's time to raise those devil horns and salute the winner of the 2015 Wacken Metal Battle Canada: Toronto's Vesperia.
The band were named the contest's victor following the Wacken Metal Battle Canada final at Toronto's Opera House on June 6. Other finalists included Medevil, Bleed, Endless Chaos, Midnight Malice and Nordheim. Among the judges were members of Annihilator and Cradle of Filth.
Wacken Metal Battle Canada organizer JJ Tartaglia said in a statement, "We are very proud to present Vesperia's brand of epic melodic metal to the mighty Wacken festival. This makes it two wins for frontman Morgan Rider who played bass for Crimson Shadows during their 2013 win and has been a very active player in the Canadian metal scene for many years. It's great to see him succeed and carry the torch with Vesperia."
Now that Vesperia have won the Canadian edition of the contest, the group will go on to play at the 11th international Wacken Metal Battle, which will take place at Germany's Wacken Open Air festival from July 30 to August 1.
