Rotterdam noughties dance-pop outfit Vengaboys are not only still active, but they've the most coveted honour of any modern pop music act — brief TikTok infamy. The band have launched a global movement with their "Up & Down Challenge," but mere days after its launch, they're begging people to stop trying to do it.
The challenge involves two people as they complete a seriously intensive yoga pose, then simultaneously groove to the Eurodance tune. It looks cool as hell, but it's incredibly dangerous. And with the coronavirus pandemic continuing worldwide, it's best to avoid something that could put you in the hospital.
"At least TikTok has added a warning to the 'Up and Down' challenge videos," Vengaboys member D-Nice said in a press release. "And even though we can see that a lot of people are having fun, we are pleading with them to stop."
The band's Captain Kim continued, "We are of course delighted with the huge success, but we still want to ask the TikTok community to stop this challenge. If you break a finger or sprain your wrist, you still have to go to the hospital where they have more important things on their mind right now."
Watch some triumphs and fails from the "Up & Down Challenge" below, and do not try it at home.
