While the collaboration may have seemed an unusual one on paper, the collaborative effort from Venetian Snares and Daniel Lanois has arrived, and you can hear the entire thing right now.
Arriving today through Timesig/Planet Mu, Venetian Snares x Daniel Lanois runs eight tracks in length, all of which were tracked live off the floor in a former Toronto Buddhist temple.
The recording finds Lanois taking up his pedal steel guitar while Venetian Snares handles beats and electronics. As our review of the album notes, "the woozy pedal steel guitar...seems to be puttering away in the background for a while, but eventually you begin to realize that those unassuming melodies are the driving force behind all the tracks."
Take in all of Venetian Snares x Daniel Lanois below. You can read Exclaim!'s recent interview with both Lanois and Venetian Snares over here.
