To mark their 100th podcast, Speedy J's label, Electric Deluxe, have released this limited run of hand-stamped bootleg vinyl. Presented as eight nameless tracks of unedited podcast segments over three records, #100 is a cryptic exploration into the caverns of electronic music. Supposedly, the unlisted aspect of the album is in order to glorify the medium itself as opposed to the artist, but all it really does is create a treasure hunt for anyone who wants to put their nerd cap on and do some serious digging.
Despite the techno/house backgrounds of most of the guests on the Electric Deluxe podcasts, the majority of them tend to opt for an introspective, down-tempo set. Seeing as #100 is a compilation of these podcasts, it only really ranges between ambient and very ambient (with a little bit of musique concrete, avant-garde, and experimental thrown in as well) but for the most part, it's eerie and beat-less. In spite of the compilation's veil of secrecy — which is not only upheld by its lack of a tracklist, but also by its truly obscure songs — it features tracks from the likes of Brian Eno, Tim Hecker, Ben Frost and Burial.
